Industrial Design Registration Term

Once The industrial design is applied before TPI, it is examined formally by the examiner and accepted whether the application is suitable fort he publication.

The application is then forwarded to publication for a 6 months period.

In the 6 months period if there is not any opposition filed by the third parties , at the end of the publication term, the registration certificate has been issued for 5 years time.

The registration process will take nearly 10 months from the application date.

If there is an opposition filed by the third parties , then the examiner asks athe applicant to file the arguements against the opposition in a month time.

Then the opposition and the arguements will be examined by the Reexamination Board of Appeal .

If the opposition is accepted , then the application has been refused .

If the opposition is not accepted , then  the application is forwarded to registration.
